Transportation

Car rental recommendations

We recommend renting a car from Enterprise. The cost for a standard car rental from March 21-23 is approximately $125 USD, including insurance (Total Protection Package).

shuttle services

We are arranging shuttle services from both airports on Friday, March 21, 2025, with return services on Sunday, March 23, 2025. More details will be provided closer to the date.

Airport transfer Information

Please note that Uber pickups are not permitted at either of Mexico City’s airports (only drop-offs are allowed). After exiting baggage claim, we recommend booking an authorized airport taxi. Nueva Imagen is our top recommendation for reliable service.

General Travel information

Currency & Cash

Mexico uses the Mexican peso (MXN). USD is not accepted, so you’ll need to exchange it for pesos. Cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX) are accepted nearly everywhere, but it’s still wise to carry some small bills for street food and local crafts. The best exchange rates are at the airport, or you can withdraw pesos from any ATM, regardless of where your bank is located, which is the easiest option for cash.

Tipping & Splitting Bills

In Mexico, a 10% tip is standard for most services. For poor service, you can leave 0-5%, while 15% is for exceptional experiences. When paying by card, your server will often ask for the tip percentage. Splitting bills is generally not an issue, and most places can split a bill up to 10 ways.

Power Outlets & Voltage

In Mexico, power outlets are Type A and Type B, similar to those in the U.S., with a standard voltage of 127V. If you’re visiting from Europe or another region with different plug types, you’ll need to bring a power adapter. Most electronics, such as phones, tablets, and laptops, are compatible with this voltage, but double-check if you’re bringing specialized devices.

Safety & Health

It’s best to avoid drinking tap water in Mexico, but brushing your teeth and using it for other basic purposes is perfectly fine. Stick to bottled or filtered water for drinking.

Pharmacies are widely available, and many have in-house doctors who offer consultations for free or for a small fee (around MXN 50) if you need a prescription. Make sure to bring any personal medications or prescriptions you may need during your stay.

Weather

March is dry and pleasant, with daytime temperatures between 22°C and 27°C (72°F to 81°F) and cooler evenings around 6°C to 13°C (43°F to 55°F). While the air is generally clear, there can be occasional pollution, so bring an inhaler if needed. Pack for warm days, but have a light jacket for the cooler evenings, especially for outdoor activities.
